Frequently asked questions

What camera equipment will I need to do the course?

We recommend either a DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) camera or a digital mirrorless camera. The most important thing is that the camera has a full manual (M) mode. You will also need a good quality tripod an electronic flash, and use of a computer with the relevant software to process RAW files (a PC or MAC). A macro lens is recommended, but not essential.

What level of understand of photography do I need to have to do this course?

Students need to have an intermediate level of understanding of photography to participate in this course. It is essential that the basics of photography, including depth of field, are understood. It is also important that the student is familiar with their camera settings and can operate the shutter, aperture and ISO in full manual mode.

What happens if I miss a lesson?

Ideally, it would be better if you were able to attend the course without missing a lesson. But we do understand that life happens. So, you are welcome to join in on a future class to catch up on the lesson at no additional charge, or if you cannot wait we can also provide "one on one" catch up lessons at an additional cost. Please contact us for details or view the one on ones lessons info on our website.

What if I find the course too advanced?

If you feel that the course is too challenging, you would know this by the end of the first lesson. At this point you could move down to the basic class free of charge. When you then do the advanced class you need only pay the shortfall.

What is the average class size?

Around five students as we believe in a small group dynamic for optimum teaching

What computer and software will I require?

You will need a laptop computer (PC or Mac) loaded with the following software;(Adobe Photoshop CC and Bridge CC or Light-room CC), plus a portable memory stick or hard-drive.
